I understand the sentiments about not using .22 anymore as some replies state. Please keep in mind that this is RSA and we have a highly effective Centre Firearms Registry and really user friendly firearm legislation... Not!

We do need endorsements for the cfr and thus we do need divisions to compete in various rifles. I have an AR and also a 10/22. For practicing cheap and shooting for sport the 10/22 is really effective.

The more divisions the better. At least keep it on the rule book and in use, if only at club level, so be it.

You are correct we need different divisions. If not for different division; we would be able to licence exactly one gun per person.

.22's have their place. That place is not in a competition for full power guns. IPSC knows this. They have mini-rifle shoots specifically for .22's. If they allowed .22's in "real" rifle or pistol shoots the only people left shooting would be .22 shooters. (SADPA didn't foresee that when .22's were allowed) But we (hopefully) learn...

SADPA should provide for .22's, but as a separate competition, same as IPSC does. If DMG can be fixed (And it is being worked on), we can have a lot more shoots with more shooters more frequently.

Ask yourself this question: How long would you put up with shooting a full power pistol when some dude with a .22 keeps winning?
.22's should compete against other .22's. Full power guns should compete against full power guns, or else people will find elsewhere to spend their money

    Guys,

    Please don't draw this out.

The whole SADPA circular was a mistake based on the IPOC's incorrect understanding of the DMG landscape. Tac SHAC submitted our courses of fire to SADPA for vetting for the DMG Nationals, and (for some unknown reason) the IPOC sent them on to IDPA for vetting.

The facts of the matter are:

About 7 years ago the Africa Coordinator at the stage (Khumba... on GunSite) got a personal undertaking from Joyce Fowler Wilson that South Africa could develop our own DMG rulebook as IDPA was not interested in taking the Provisional Rules of 2008 any further. SADPA then developed the DMG sport themselves, but reported back to the Wilson's who declared themselves happy with what we were doing.

The Provisional rules were never developed further by IDPA and are now completely out of sync with the rest of the IDPA rules.

The whole of SADPA needs fixing and that is being worked on by a committee of club chairmen. A Special General Meeting has already been called for. We are waiting for the SADPA Exco to come back with a date and a venue for this meeting.

Relax. DMG is safe. Endorsements are safe. SADPA is safe.
