    Had he had been German , he would have without doubt been tried for war crimes.

    Great Britain did not start the WWII. Look at the pictures of bombed Warsaw, Gdansk and other Polish cities. Not much difference to Dresden.
    Every 5th Pole died in the WWII.

    Generally speaking, exterminating ethnic groups of people on an an industrial scale, would be considered a war crime. I don't think the British Forces were involved in that.

    The firebombing of Dresden was one of the most inhumane acts ever carried out in human history and it had no purpose other than to break German civilian morale. It sits on the same moral plane of atrocity as the mass shooting of civilians. There is no excuse for it.

    Apart from what they did during the Anglo-Boer War, the Sudan and India...but that is the subject of a whole other disussion entirely :)

    That Dresden raid alone reflected the following numbers: 2 days, 1300 allied bombers, 3900 tons of explosives, 25 000 people killed.
