Monolithics are very tough on steel, especially the bigger calibers using lightweight monos at very high velocties. We want to limit the damage to the gongs as much as possible and therefore do not allow monos.

There is definitely the possibility to organize such an event in those parts of the country in the future. ALRHA is finalizing their official Long Range Varmint and Long Range Hunter Competition Formats, which will be more formal than the fun shoot we are doing now. We have both formats coming at 7 June and 24 September in Gauteng this year, but next year we can expand further out towards the Cape.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

There will be 3 stages consisting of 2 targets each which will be on different distances. All relays will complete a stage before moving on to the next stage. Maximum of 5 shots allowed per target. Thus, a total maximum of 30 rounds if utilizing the 5 round maximum on each target. The less rounds you need to get a hit on a target, the higher your score and once you have hit a target, you do not need to shoot any further shots on that target as they will not score. Thus, if you manage first round hits on all 6 your targets, you would only need 6 shots. Add a few rounds for sighters as we will have a 400mm gong at 500m which can be utilized for sighters at any time during the event when at the firing point.

The stages will be broken up approximately as follows:

    Stage 1:
    1000m: IDPA/IPSC torso target
    850m: IDPA/IPSC torso target

    Stage 2:
    750m: 250mm target
    650m: 200mm target

    Stage 3:
    500m: 150mm target
    400m: 150mm target

Scoring will be allocated per target as follow:

    1st round hit: 25
    2nd round hit: 20
    3rd round hit: 15
    4th round hit: 10
    5th round hit: 5
No hits within 5 rounds: 0

PS: Just a note guys. Bookings and payments with the guesthouse, if you wish to make use of it, is your own responsibility and is not included in the entry fee.
