    Default Gamo BigCat 1250

My first post methinks and looking for some advice and opinion please.

I bought, or rather paid for, a Gamo BigCat 1250 air rifle from iwarehouse.co.za as it looked like a great deal all around. R2079 including a scope was the offer.

Apart from the fact that I don't have the air-rifle yet, apparently no stock in SA and only coming in April, I have the opportunity to get my loot back.

My question is, is it worth it holding on for the firearm, or do I take my loot back and find something else? The time isn't the issue, but at that kind of money it looks like good value.

    Any thoughts?

It depends on what you want to do with the rifle:

    1. If you are going to keep it in the cupboard and shoot three or four minahs a year, it's great
    2. Anything more and I would recommend that you get your money back. It is not a great rifle to start with. The speed at which it shoots is too high, therefore everything is under strain all the time. The scope will go first, then the spring. Then the rifle will fall apart. Eventually you'll have only the broken scope mounts to throw at targets (close by).
    3. Look for a HW50s ... they do come up occasionally.

    You can thank me later.

Get your money back - rather buy a previously loved weirauch like the HW50 mentioned above. Join this forum (http://www.airrifle.co.za/) and keep an eye out for a bargain.

Thanks Chaps, will definitely have a look at the airrifles forum. Initially this is just for plinking and giving my kids some orientation around firearm handling etc. sort of a cheap & nasty to get started.
There are some other items in the safe downstairs, but that's for another day.
