building a traditional bow

Hi guys,

I want to custom build my very own traditional Scythian bow. Is there someone local that imports the bearpaw fibre used in building the bow?

Or is there an alternative fibre that can be used for bow building?

Go to CNA and buy the March edition of Africa's Bowhunter magazine. On page 4 there is the contact details for Derek Norse, one of the best bow builders in South Africa. On page 25 there is an article about a Horsebow and the contact details of its builder, Pierre de Wet. On page 28 is the contact details of Johan van der Merwe who builds the Combretum traditional long bows. I am sure that amongst these top 3 traditional bow builders you are sure to find the correct details and guidance you are looking for.
