Re: Buffalo horn grip caps
I got lucky today, got myself a nice big Takbok set of horns..now I can use it for a nice looking Bowie knife..Takbok meat per kilogram will cost me R34/kg...all year round from Belfast..if you want to hunt takbok, you need to book in advance and will wait at least for two years...

Re: Buffalo horn grip caps
Had some time to make a few Buffalo boss horn grip caps ..these grip caps really have a rugged surface and will look beautiful on a rifle..
A nice piece of buffalo boss horn:
Sanding down the bottom part :
Tracing the final shape"
Flat sanded bottom:
A few pieces cut to form ready to be sanded to shape:
Close up of a buffalo boss grip cap surface:
One of these nice grip caps will be fitted to my 8x68S rifle stock..

Re: Buffalo horn grip caps
Andrew, I roughen the bottom surface, then use the same material I use for bedding material, epidermix 372 gp epoxy , you can use any adhesive you like, even secure it with a grip cap screw that you can counter sink...Keep in mind you still have to work the stock grip cap surface to fit nicely to the buffalo grip cap surface..
