From the PFTC website relating to BP unit standards:

"This category is applicable to Security guards and anybody else who is issued with a company firearm. This category is for firearms licensed to a company or institution for “business purposes”. What this means is that a Security Officer who carries a Handgun, will be required to complete firstly 117705, then 119649 and then 123515. This category can be seen as an INTERMEDIATE LEVEL or duty related level."

    FWIW.

Maybe we should not confuse legal requirements and logic?

I've asked this before: why does a manufacturer, gunsmith, dealer or seller need to draw and fire 5 rounds in 5 seconds etc (and all those other requirements in the BusComp) ? How does that make a better gunsmith?
I agree that security guards need that level of proficiency.
But other categories that 'fall' under the BusComp Unit Standards do not, and it's completely ridiculous. I've recently been declined in my attempt to get Comp-to-trade, and in my appeal, stated that the Act does not detail any requirement for BusComp, and that was also declined. I'll get my decline letter and post the details here next week.
Ps. Out of interest, for anyone who has successfully completed the BusComp unit standards, how much time and money (ammo) did you invest in becoming proficient to complete the summatives?

Business quali is not difficult. Handgun is 10 rounds in 20 sec, 5 rounds plus 1 dummy IA in 10 sec, 5 rounds standing, reload and 5 kneeling in 20 sec.
Shotgun is 5 rounds from standing.
Semi Rifle is 10 rounds in 15 sec.
Rifle is 5 rounds at 50m.
All on A4 paper, except shotgun on a5 size.

It is not difficult if you can shoot. My last Instructor shoot I scored 100% and most of the guys was 95% plus.

Download the quali and practice it. Handgun maybe 50 rounds as practice.

    Just my 2cents.
