    Default Sporting Bodies numbers

    Hi folks,

    Doing research for an article regarding South African shooting sports. I received a reply from SAPSA regarding my query, but SADPA has been silent so far :P How many IDPA shooters do we have in SA at the moment? And, for that matter, does anyone know roughly how many people are members of the SAPA (NPA) and the NSA? :g;

    Thanks in advance!

    G

    According to the SADPA Classification list, 2992 members of which 1309 are paid-up members.

    Believe the SADPA number of paid up members to be in the 1650 region.
    This was what was reported at the AGM a week ago, so is accurate.

    Would like to know NSA numbers.

    Don't forget bodies like SA Hunters which host shoots as well. Determining how many of their members actually regularly attend shoots will be difficult though.

    You should also look at the South African pin shooting Federation, Cowboy action shooting, wing shooting and silhouette shooting sports.

    If you are trying to gauge the total amount of active sport shooting individuals I would see what organizations are registered with FCA. Then take it from there. Most gun shops with ranges have a sport shooting club of their own as well.

    Would SASCo (formerly SASSF) not be willing to divulge numbers? All (most) SS associations are affiliated there.

    Yup, I know only a small percentage of my range's social club shooters are members of the bigger organisations
