Thanks. I had been looking for it in some of the NEM acts without luck

    Peasure.

So turns out Addo's procedure is not quite what I expected. Declared the firearm at the gate, at which point they had me fill in a firearm register, including the quantity of ammunition I had with me. Then they let me in. At reception I had to again declare on the indemnity form that I had a firearm in the vehicle. And that's it. No ziplock bags, no cable ties. Didn't even have to produce the firearm for inspection. And no checks on the way out either. So a bit more layed back in the Eastern Cape, it seems. Or else the normal guys were on leave for the long weekend.

Cool. Some of the other reserves I had gone to, same thing.
