Default Surplus ammo prices in US

I see in the US you can buy surplus Ruskie ammo 5.45 x 39 at a $130 for 1080 rounds, so that is R1300 for a 1080 rounds, how do they do it?

I know we have discussed this a lot, but I mean we pay like four times as much for surplus ammo.

I guess everything is just better in the US.

They have a massive market so they can bring in massive amounts of ammo and offload them quick , not so much with SA.

Well for starters that price is excluding any sales tax.

Then one of the dealers on GS should list the direct cost (transport to the south end of the world), taxes and levies and admin costs.

I understand that since we have discussed that alot, but still, I was amazed at the low price.

This is why we must work hard at adding new gun owners to the market so that we can also import and off load firearms and components at rock bottom prices

I find it amazing that the USA can buy surplus South African ammo for cheap, and we can't even get it.

On the other hand we can get Norinco ammo and they can't.....

The Yanks buy shiploads, on The Firearms Blog a few years ago an article feature about a private group of guys who imported something like 9 rail cars of ammo from Russia (7.62, 5.45, etc) and used and resold it in a few months. We can't compete with that and the huge volume discounts they get.

Denel sucks balls.... they would rather sell overseas than here.

Which is the reason I wont buy PMP products. It is a 2-way street. If they cannot be bothered to look after the local market why should I support them? I am referring here mainly to SD ammo and not hunting ammo which they do seem to supply in SA.

As a matter of principle I dont buy their hunting ammo either but reload my own or buy imported ammo and components.

    Not for much longer...

The US is now stopping the import of all steel cased bullet ammo as they now classify it as "armour piercing".
