Ruger SR1911 Commander
Hi everyone just need your expert opinion on the Ruger SR1911 Commander. I am seriously contemplating buying one new and I've been reading up and viewing a few You Tube sites on the Ruger Commander but would appreciate your view on this new offering from Ruger. Anyone own one that can share a few experiences of it?

Re: Ruger SR1911 Commander
What's it for? Not a great self defense choice.

Re: Ruger SR1911 Commander
Spoke to the guys at Guns & Bows and they said they had a few Commanders in the February shipment. So apparently they do come in from what the agents say.
It looks like a nice 1911 for the price, and I would consider one for CDP. I have not handled the Commander model, but the full size looked and felt well built, from my limited experience I would put it ahead of the Remington (not the enhanced model).
Would not buy it as a first or only pistol, but for number 3 to
6 I have a serious 1911 hole in my life.

Re: Ruger SR1911 Commander
I have a friend that carries the SR1911 as an EDC gun and he doesn't complain. The commander looks like an "easier to carry" gun compared to his. It won't be as comfortable to carry as some of the more compact, lighter options but it can be done.

Re: Ruger SR1911 Commander
1911 would probably be my 3rd FA and since I know the owner at guns and bows it will probably be a Ruger, just to play with. For now I'm torn between the p07 or the Ruger SR9c...
to the OP, 1911guy here on the forum has a Ruger 1911. I'd recommend giving him a shout

Re: Ruger SR1911 Commander - advice please
Thanks guys. I would consider using the Ruger for club shooting discipline in .45 cal. I have a Luger M80 9mm para for SD carry. Yes I've enquired and Guns and Bows are the agents for Ruger in CT. Think I'll contact them as well. Just thought I'd ask for some advice on this forum as well.
