Express in my eyes is cheaper to get going. Mainly the brass.

I shoot a 450 Rigby. It's my backup gun on DG and works well for me. I personally don't like belted cartridges, so i picked the 450. Both will do the job for what they are made for. I have shot the 458 express before and recoil was much less than my 450 rigby. Both will stop a charge if the shot is placed correctly.

Forster_Headspacegauges_Catridges.jpgIs this the reason you prefer rimless cartridges? What difference does it make? I am new to most of these concepts and want to learn. The reason for this gun is that I would like to do my PH licence in the near future and want a back up gun that sends a 500gr @ 2350-2400fps?

Thanks for the comments thus far!

I just don't like the look of a belted cartridge. It's a personal choice, nothing to do with ability. Not sure what the specs are on a 458 EXP with a 500gr, but 2400 is not important in stopping DG. 2150 -2250 is all you need in my opinion. I shoots a 550gr at 2180fps and it works wonders.

I'm shooting a 500 gr at 2250 out of my Brno 25" barrel. An extra bonus is that I can fit 5 rounds in the magazine.
    R12 a doppie from PMP compared to what .... R40 - R50 for the Rigby ?

No need to shoot 2300-2400 f/ps. But if you have to .... Get your self a 460 Weatherby and shoot factory ammo ..... Ouch !!!

The (3") Exp has 2 advantages: More rounds in the mag, and cheaper cases. It can also fire Lott and Win Mag in a pinch. But choose whatever tickles your fancy.

So who can build it for me as I already have a K98 action?
