Default SOPMOD BLOCK 2 for AR -15

Does anybody out there have experience in setting up an AR-15 in this way?... it is for security work outside the borders of SA!

I am assuming you are looking for something like a SOPMOD Block 2 clone, since real Colt M4 uppers with or even without the SOPMOD barrel are basically unobtanium in SA. IMO there are newer options that are available now that were not around back when the Block 2's were spec'ed. In any case, here is a list of specs from AR15.com...

To those wondering what makes an M4A1 a Block II model, here are some of the characteristics and equipment that the Block II M4A1s have:

    Barrel:
14.5" M4 or SOCOM contour barrel

    Flash Hider:
    Standard A2 or KAC NT4

    Rail System:
Early Block II M4A1s still used the KAC M4 RAS
DD RIS II in dark earth

    Vertical grips
Tango down battle grip in tan
    KAC

    Rail panels:
    Tango Down
    KAC

    Front sight:
    KAC flip up in tan
standard front sight base (if early Block II with M4 RAS)

    Optics:
    Elcan Specter DR SU-230
    EOTech SU-231-PEQ (553)

    IR Lasers:
    Insight AN/PEQ-15

    Flashlight:
    Insight M3 (SU-233/PVS)

    Rear sight:
    KAC 300m
    KAC 600m
    MaTech

    Buttstock:
    standard M4
    LMT SOPMOD
    Run Fast, Bite Hard!

Hey thanx for the reply, yes I meant the clone. to explain further I have an AR with a quad rail. I want to make it nighttime capable along the lines of the SOPMOD system. But I am having trouble sourcing the optics: infrared laser, infrared flashlight, and night vision. So if anybody has set one up before I would be interested in hearing about it?

Careful playing tag useless you're not on your own and people who need to know you're about, know you're about.

most employers in my industry would provide this feature, but mine happens to be low budget, so for my own safety I am upgrading out my own pocket... but I get what you saying!

DISCLAIMER: Anything I say on the internet is purely fictional, and is a desperate attempt to convince my airsoft buddies that I am anything other than an overweight, undersexed, balding, middle aged man with a nagging wife and two screaming kids. I have never held a real firearm and probably never will!

But seriously if there are any dealers out there who have the SOPMOD goodies, kindly listed by ikor in the above post, then please pm me and maybe we can do some business?... I am also willing to swap for a crate of airsoft ammo!

My apologies for necroposting, but for the benefit of anyone searching "IR laser" or "PEQ" on the forum: there's another option besides the ITAR-restricted PEQ units. Have a look at the Russian-made PERST units. I think the PERST-4's price is much more achievable for most people compared to the cost of a PEQ...and it's CNC machined from a solid block of aluminium instead of having a plastic body.
