The DPMS Gen2 has my attention! How difficult is it to retain yr dedicated sport shooting license? I dont have the guns for 3 gun so is there Semi auto competitions one can take part in?

i would venture a guestimate that the majority of sports people get DSS for handgun shoots.
as for the G2, I'm getting more and more excited. more reviews are steadily coming out and people posting 0.5 to 1.0MOA groupings with average quality ammo.

Not hard, check out NSA online. You shoot targets a couple of times a year and send them in to be kept on file. Other organisations you can probably get away with 4-5 shoots a year.

For competitions rather get a 556, its easier on the shoulder and the pocket.

The Recon Gen2 is a different story alltogether in respect of all the changes and improvements to the platform.

You can read on the link how it is different and upgraded from the standard 308 AR platform eveyone else is using.

The bolt carrier group is lighter and smaller and yet improved to be stronger and more durable.

The bolt in itself has seen probably a similar amount of upgrades and improvements compared to the rest of the rifle combined. Re-designed and stronger and more durable extractor assembly, double ejectors, rounded bolt lugs, stress relieve groove behind the lugs. The bolt head and lugs size have been reduced resulting in a smaller and lighter barrel extension.

The feed ramp with "M4" cuts is now a steel insert instead of of the feed ramps cut into the alumium lower receiver.

    Etc, etc.

We made a Gen2 Recon available recently for testing by professional users. The rifle was tested over 4 days and 1200 rounds of slow fire and rapid fire. It was exposed (not being covered or under cover except for after hours security lock-up) to the elements (heat, dust, cold, rain) for 4 days and not cleaned once. The rifle had no failures of any kind. Ammo used was Stanag spec 7,62x51. Repeated hits (20 round out of 20 time and again) were being made by the pros on a 36" x 15" steel plate at 650m.

This is one very formidable 308/7,62x51 semi-auto rifle. Imo DPMS has taken the lead in the 308 AR line up of rifles.

So in short, you would happily pay the extra R6000 for the Gen 2 instead of the Gen 1 Khumba?

I have 2 people who have some experience in shooting both the PWS and the DPMS Gen2.

One, myself, had a PWS and the other still has a PWS and we both agree the Gen2 is lighter and shoots better and more accurately and has better extraction and ejection than the PWS.

The Gen2 has features that sets it apart from the PWS even though the PWS is a long stroke piston AR.

If you were going to do very high round counts with a 308 semi auto and not mind not having a rifle as accurate as possible then the PWS would probably be ahead of the Gen2 DPMS.

The PWS I had ran and I believe still runs no issues with most ammo after initial niggles.

The other person I am referring to does not have the same experience with his PWS.
