Build your own custom rifle
I think this might get quite interesting!
If you could have a rifle custom built for yourself, what would it look like?
You choose calibre based on your specific needs and purpose, so no arguments for this and that calibre PLEASE!?! Regardless of what you already own etc, doesnt matter if this is your 1st or 10th rifle.
Working on a strict R30K budget Specify as follow:
A- Calibre
B- Action Type and Make
C- Trigger
D- Barrel (length, twist rate, colour, width, esthetic eg fluted or bull etc)
E- Stock type and finish incl (colour where appropriate) and make
F- Recoil Pad make etc
G- Scope make, model, size/magnification, reticle choice etc
H- Sling (type, material, make, colour)
I- If needed specify silencer or muzzle breaks
J- Specify ammo. Points make, weight, shape etc along with case choice, primer choice (lets say you get 40 rounds custom rounds incl for your R30K)
K- Specify prefeble South African gunsmith.
LETS START DESCRIBING/BUILDING OUR DREAMS!?!?!

Re: Build your own custom rifle
When I think of Bruce, I see him in my minds eye with a ciggie in his mouth and about 5cm of ash about to fall off the end.

Re: Build your own custom rifle
All I know is that you won't get much for 30k. Synthetic stock and no "bells and whistles" will bring it down.
I have recently gone thru this exercise and 40k is more realistic if you want a good quality wood and a leupold scope.

Re: Build your own custom rifle
I recently got a quote from Chad Gillie at Arms in Waterkloof, Pretoria for a VZ-24 action with Truvelo barrel and Grade 4 walnut stock, it came in around 20k.
His work is very good too. Has not made a name for himself yet but he is young so time will tell.

Re: Build your own custom rifle
Chad is a good oak, I would recommend him anytime, he does a good quality job.
As far as building a custom rifle, I would like to make my own, have an action in development based loosely on a nesika action with a winchester pre64 type safety and trigger system, possibly in 404 jeffrey, open sights, barrel
from truvelo. But I suppose I would never reAlly use a 404 so maybe make a 25-06 or something just to play with, but for it to be a true custom rifle for me I would like to be the one to build it.

Would love to see that Dave. What is your intended purpose with that rifle?
