Rifle Scope - A short guide to selection and setup

Recently while researching parallax in riflescopes it was apparent in the forum threads that I read both here and on American forums that a lot of shooters do not understand how rifle scopes truly work. I have an AO scope yet did not fully understand how parallax works.

Selecting rifle scopes is about trade offs so I thought I would prepare a short write up that would hopefully assist forum members to better understand what is important in a riflescope and to be able to improve their ability to firstly find the correct scope for their application and then to set their riflescopes for optimum performance.
