Man shot dead on M1 highway

A man was shot dead in Johannesburg on Thursday.
The incident occurred on the M1 highway, south of the Johannesburg CBD on Thursday evening.
Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann told reporters: ‘Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a shooting incident on the M1 De Villiers Graaff Motorway in Mondeor last night [Thursday] at around 9pm. Upon their arrival on scene they found a man had tragically lost his life following the shooting incident.’
According to media reports, police are still investigating the matter.

This is the only link I could find and the only reason I looked for it was it is a co-workers cousin.

From what she told me, he and his 8 month pregnant girlfriend ran out of petrol close to the BP Oasis on the M1, he left her in the car and walked to the garage.
He phoned a family member who met him there, and dropped him back off at his car, after putting petrol in the car the family member left.

But the car still would not start, leaving him and his girlfriend still stranded on the side of the road.

Two BG's came out of the bushes. He shouted for his girlfriend to run while he tried to fight them off (as per his cousin he was not armed).
At this point 3 more BG's came out of the bushes on the side of the road. Shot him 3 times and fled, without taking anything.

His girlfriend managed to get away.

For those who haven't figured it out yet, an armed man would have had a chance to fight these guys off.

More proof that being unarmed is no use.

That lady is scarred for life. I can just imagine being there and knowing I have to fight so many of them or they'll have their way with my girlfriend and being un-armed. Terrible.

I mentioned to people yesterday that I am absolutely convinced that should my car breakdown on the N2 somebody will definitely try to rob me. It is a near certainty. The SAPS are powerless to prevent it.

i totally agree MS. it is bloody disturbing.
my wife gives me crap about the the amount of stuff i now carry in the vehicles. after reading this story last night she admitted that maybe i am not that paranoid after all. not just S but the wholedamn planet just seems to be going batshit
