Banged my Yale safe quite a bit last night. No luck. Stays locked.

Unfortunately I don't think Yale (SA) will reply and tell us if their safes have the same problem. I am thinking I will leave the one in my "office" in place as a decoy and convenient ammo storage container, while purchasing another safe to store the stuff I don't want nicked. I suppose you can never have enough safes.

    Found this clip as well:

I have a feeling most, if not all, the electronic safes we get here are all built on the same internals, just skinned with different outers. The safe in the video above has the same reset switch in same location as the Yale "handgun" safes.

Had a look at the Yale site and the safe's manual last night. (PS I'm talking about the "Certified" and "Security" safe with nice integrated keypad, comes with 6 lever bitted keys that are inserted under the Yale badge, NOT the "Value" safe with the plastic keypad and turn knob in front).

From their description of "motorized bolts" and the way the safe is unlocked with a key (lever lock turn twice to retract the locking bolts like a normal key safe) and the fact that the bolts stay retracted while the door open; my educated guess is that the bolts are opened and closed by use of a motor and gearing system in a similar way that sliding gate will open and closed. This design will be immune to any type of jiggling, slapping, bouncing, hitting like in the video above.

These safe are as good as a classic key safe.

MY OPINION DOUBLE CHECK WITH YALE.

Also seem there are no reset/open buttons on the back or on the inside. Passwords are programmed using the keypad when the door is open.

Did you at least cuddle it afterwards?

Maybe try a massage or something romantic first.

Ive seen this previously, moered my safe multiple times and was left with a locked safe and sore hand. Think it depends on the saying "Goed koop is duur koop".

Most of these aren't available in SA, but it's an interesting look at security in general
