I do not know of any modern spring ones, so your best bet would be to go for the 'pump' ones, a single-stroke pneumatic - where you charge a cylinder with a cocking action. These are very accurate and versatile. The HW40 and Webley Alecto come to mind.

Another option would be the CO2 SPA CP1 pistol. Cost effective, accurate and easy to work on.

Your best bet would be to go onto the airrifle.co.za forum and ask questions. My knowledge is limited on the subject.

Or get yourself a Crosman 2240 in 22cal. And take contact guy called Gerhard in CPT. And let him customize it for you.
Mine is now either a rifle setup, or pistol. Adjustable speed up to close to 650 - 700fps with longer shrouded barrel.
And can run off small co2 or larger paintball cylinders. Fully wood grips and now all steel parts with customized and redone inners.
Everything included under 3000 to built.

Otherwise the HW40 is your best bet.

Have a look at the HW 45

IMHO the most awesome "sporter" single stroke pneumatic ever built

I would trust my big hairy friend's opinion here.

Errrr, the HW45 is a springer afa I know, not a pneumatic like the HW40.
The HW45 is way more powerful, but the HW40 is the more accurate.
With my HW40 up to 25m I can hit a laundry liquid measuring "ball" repeatedly (2 handed grip, no support).
I've not had opportunity to shoot the HW45 for comparison, but a Diana springer pistol couldn't come near the HW40 ito accuracy, and it's far less powerfull than a HW45.

    Still, I'd LUUUUURVE to say "I own a HW45 in 0.20cal) ;-)

The HW 45 to me was just more loud than the HW 40. Had the 45 for a brief period.
Although you get two setting on it for power.
Also the HW40 has got zero recoil being Pneumatic.
While the 45 gives you a nice thumb from the spring and piston.

If you want to go completely boinkers. You can splash out on a Baikal single stroke target pistol.
But they are slightly bigger and less practical than the HW40. Although brilliant accuracy.
Pelletgun stocks them but at more than double HW40 price.

Saw it on GUMTREE 2nd hand. Good condition later model with plastic grips. Paid R700 which is very reasonable. I was looking at an Umarex Browning Buck Mark at +- R1100 new or a Webley (depending on model and condition I was prepared to pay R1000 to R1500). Of course a Walther was my no 1 desire. I have an Umarex S&W revolver and an Umarex Walther CP99 (both co2), but wanted a single shot. I understand that the cheapo Chinese S2 can be ok (if you are lucky to get a decent one). A friend decided on one and paid R370. He bought from a hardware store and agreed with the owner to test a number of them to get the best one. Good luck
