Would love to become a state funded mynah control officer. Would keep one busy for some time.

Looking around me, and noticing the trend of things in general, I have to wonder when the maynah will become a protected species...

    Soon enough, mate ;-)
Look at the USA and other countries where they already accept former foreign species, set free by humans, as protected species. BTW, what about the Purple Gallinule, the Chuckar Partridge or to mention some ducks eg. Mallard, Northen Shoveler or the escaped Northern Pintails? Do you eriticate them too?

There is no way in hell that mynahs will EVER become endangered.

Malard ducks are denoted as vermin here, and as such, there are no restrictions on hunting them. This due to their ability to interbreed with indigenous species.

While there is a certain hypocrisy involved when it comes to introduced species, the alarm bells start ringing when 'they' show the ability to out-compete the local species. Unfortunately for Indian mynahs, they have no commercial value, or commercial infrastructure (trout, bass) developed around them. IMO, their impact on biodiversity is profound, even be it in an artificial environment. I would rather have indigenous species proliferating in my garden.

No calibre to large for a mynah... they can't be too dead. cost makes me draw the line at 180gr from my 30-06
