DIY challenge, how would you do this?
*Doesnt quite have category,so this prob the closest I think. This could be headed under camping, hunting even "teotwaki".
I have 2 projects/ideas of what I would like to do,and would like to tap some ideas from you guys before I get started.
How would you go about it, and how much would you spend in this process.
(1) I would pefer to narrow all my spare battery requirements down to lets say AA,CR123A and maybe a 3rd type.
The reason for this, these are the main types for my (current) NV,other optics, small torches, etc.
Logistically, the desired outcome would be to have them all rechargable, either through a vehicle,1st price would be via solar panel.
Now,what is out here off the shelf and how would you integrate them?
(2)I saw this on a f/book page, the idea resonated with me but cant find it again to Q&A the guy.
How would you integrate these using mostly off the shelf components?
*My base would be a Bushnell Stealthview.
Would yours look differently?
Looking forward to your answers...

Re: DIY challenge, how would you do this?
Can only look at 1)
On AA I use Eneloop (white top Duracell is the same) rechargeable batteries. 90% charge kept for 3 years. Doing great.
Lead acid batteries are FTD and power vs weight is a joke. That includes Optima .... good for cars and 4x4's. Not good for toys.
On CR123 ...be careful as rechargeable is 3.7V and will blow all Surefire's I have tried.
I have standardized on AA and 18650 rechargeables.
On 12V charger (also works 240V) I use a Nitecore Intellicharger i4. It can charge all the batteries mentioned without any adjustment and does not overcharge batteries. I have a 100W solar panel and 10A solar controller on my Landy so 12V is always available.
That is about 2c I guess
Cheers

Unless you are preparing for a SHTF situation, just carry more spare batteries. I never even used my spare batteries but they are always packed in.
