    Default Beretta 1301 comp

Shot my new gun in it's first match today.

It worked like a dream, cycles with 28gr #7 from the first shot, recoil is a lot better than my pump action! Very smooth shooting gun. Buck shot patterns well.

I am so glad I waited for this shotgun, and did not get a Benelli.

Even my 16 year old daughter and 13 year old son handled the gun with great effect.

If you want a sporting gun do look at this! Tested 24gr's at the end of the day and it cycled with those. Almost no recoil, but wonder if it will make power factor? Not brave enough to shoot shotgun at my chrony.

    • Much of a muchness, our whole family shot with the Beretta and two other competitors shared a versamax and one guy had his own versamax.
    • Recoil is about the same, the Beretta maybe slightly better but it may be just may take
    • The versamax little bit more difficult to load, spring stiffness and size of the standard loading port, the loading plate needs welding or it bites thumbs! The Beretta is fine out of the box
    • Cocking on empty chamber, the versamax needs to be pushed closed the spring does not do it, Beretta pull back and let go, does get better for the versamax if you practiced it, but does still cost 1/2 second every stage, if you competing agains springbok shooters that does count
    • Both cycle 24gr's
    • Both are slug accurate
    • Both have interchangeable chokes
    • versamax 8+1 but but does hold 9 on chamber empty(might be problem with buckshot did not test it), Beretta 9+1(will hold 9 buckshot for empty chamber start)
    • Price almost the same Beretta slightly cheaper about 1-2K on the quotes I got.

In the end I think the Beretta but personal preference will play a role I prefer the Beretta name to Remington.

    Have fun

Most of the guys at our club have modified their load ports and extensions. Helps out alot when loading. No one has run a 1301 at our 3GN matches and I have not seen one in person. I have heard good things about them.

But as you have said, much of a muchness.

Its still going to beat someone with a tactical timmy pump any day of the week.

That's half my point the Beretta runs out if the box! The versamax needs more money and effort to be the same

Depends on Timmy's skill level and the dude with 1301's skill level:)
