Deer with a Glock

Had a great season this year. I was able to take 4 deer total, completely maxing out my allowances. 3 of my deer kills were with a 270 Winchester with handloads.

I had one deer on the ground, when a decent sized buck made an unexpected appearance. I had already lowered my rifle down from my tree stand , so, I pulled my Glock 22 from the chest holster and called it over to within 15 yards of my stand. I got it to stop with a loud grunt call, and placed a 180 weight Nosler HP in its shoulder. It went down quickly, but I put another in its chest for good measure.
There is something that gives one a good feeling knowing your daily carry gun and load combo works well.
My wife is happy because now she can make her Biltong that she misses so much, and I'm happy for such a great season; 4 whitetail deer in 2 days!

yes, one of them. It appears it struck bone and was flattened on one side, but was mushrooming on the other side. It had already made a hole and was visible coming out of the hide, lashing on its side.

Im impressed with the bullet, loaded to 1100fps, the Nosler is a tough bullet and penetrated a good 15 inches from the chest to the back of the animal, despite obviously striking a bone structure.

Eddie Dunn (R.I,P.) decked a very nice Kudu years ago with an early CZ 75. Eddies idea of hunting was to park against a suitable shade tree and wait for something to walk by.
