Bass in Pretoria area
Anyone know of decent bass fishing in the greater Pretoria area? Willing to travel a bit if needed.
I don't have access to a boat or a shedload of equipment, normal spinning gear with a 6ft rod.
Just want to relax a bit next to the water again.Last edited by Skaaphaas; 02-01-2015 at 22:55.

Try Bundu Bashing - http://www.bundubashing.co.za/ , https://www.facebook.com/bundu.bashing , they're on the Lynwood/Bosckop road.
They have a farm dam with bass/carp, and then a couple of bass breeding dams where you can also fish.

Re: Bass in Pretoria area
We are going camping at Bass Lake Lodge north of Pretoria in two weeks time. My experience with bass fishing is very limited but I will share my thoughts on the venue when we return.

Roodeplaat Dam, Rietvlei dam, Rust De Winter dam, Renosterkop. Then there are quite a few little fishing dams dotted around PTown ...Donkerhoek way.

Re: Bass in Pretoria area
There is a few nice 'bank bashing' places.
As mentioned:Bass lake
Gogle Ithumela, it has 3 small bass ponds and a kurper pond.
Vastfontein north (this is the number I have, 083 333 0324)
Bass O Mania (but it's more Bronkhortspruit)
Thulani close to the Wonderboom airport.
Then there is a spot at hillside golfcourse, it's not part of the golf course, so the golfers to hassle you.
Rust de Winter
You can bankbash a fair part of the dam, just watch out for the Crocodiles!!
Don't do Renosterkop without a boat.
TIGHT LINES!!!

Re: Bass in Pretoria area
Skaaphaas, were you able to go?
If so did you perhaps catch anything?

Re: Bass in Pretoria area
The bass fishing has hit that mid summer slump where the fish are biting very little. You can still catch the odd one but your best chance is very early in the morning or late in the afternoon with the morning being the best. In the morning you may still get them in the shallows after their night time feeding. As soon as it warms up they start moving back to the deeper cooler water.
Hope that helps.
