Default This is what I want...

So I have mentioned in a few thread a friends father is a collector, and this is one of his firearms that I just love : unfortunately I was not there when they shot it....which sucks. I have never asked him about the details of it though, it no doubt has a history, anyone know the make / model of it by any chance?

    Forged receiver AK, not AKM.

Post pics of the selector and other marks and we could probably figure out which factory it came out of.

Has it been chromed/nickeled? If so the collectors value has probably been destroyed.

I doubt he would have done that, he only collects firearms with history, so I believe that one must have some sort of history.

Thats the only pic I have...I guess I will need to ask him about it the next time I see him.

What do you mean by "forged receiver AK, not AKM?"

AKMs have stamped receivers, as did the very first production AK47s.

The bulk of the production AK47s have forged receivers, ie, they are machined from a block of steel.

It looks like a Russian Type two Ak47. What tells me this is the solid wood stock as oppose to laminate wood stock. The stock band connecting the stock and receiver.

The angle of the lightning cut is also type two. As well as the forward slope of the gas block. The front sight post is also Type two. The magazine is also Russian.

The gun is a Izhmash type two AK47 built between 1950 and 1952-3 A great gun but I agree with SSP the collector value has been lost by that horrible finish

Bling AK . . . I think I just threw up a little. Unless it belonged to Elvis or Sadam . . .

Oh I forgot to mention that the gas tube, sight block and the selector recesses are also all type 2

So at this point I would put my cock on a block, its a Russian type 2. AK47

I think I said that already
