    Default GAMO EXPANDER

has anybody shot with these "expanding" pellets, i have fired a few to test them and have found that they expand less than an accu pell pellet.

what kind of velocities would create expansion?

At what 'claimed' velocity did you shoot them? I think it is just a giimick. You would need velocity in the region of 1000fps (IMO) to get expansion and at those velocities you need heavier pellets as the lighter ones become unstable (IMO).

well i chronied my rifle it shot 650 fps...

and dont laugh but I shot into a cactus plant aswell as an eraser and tins and paper and wood. didnt expand at all lol

yes probably a gimmick, although this weekend il run a few through a gamo rifle that chronied 970 fps and see what difference it makes.

A hollow point require a fluid media to expand. Hard media will plug up the cavity. Try it in water. When I was young and dumb(er) I shot a few birds with modified pellets SOMETHING I RECOMEND AGAINST NOW and water gave me an idea of tissue performance.

well then you see my logic behind the cactus, slightly hard skin and a fluid like media on the inside, just think my gun may be a bit pap :-\

shot into water, absolutely nothing lol

650fps does sound a bit low for anything to happen with the Gamo Expander
