Default Single or Two Stage Trigger?

I've gt the opportunity to get any Geissele or Timney trigger.

Looking at the Geissele SSA-E or Timney Skeletonized 3lb.

Will be using the rifle for some 3 gunning, some vermin shooting and just generally plinking.

What would suit me best? I have never shot either.

They are both good triggers and will serve you well. The Geissele has probably the gold standard reputation though. The timney is more like a normal rifle trigger where there is no take up. Where the likes of the Timney and Wilson TTU are fun is that there is no take up and the reset is quick hence you can shoot very quickly because you don't need to move your finger much. The geissele although very light needs a tad more finger movement but has an advantage in that it uses standard AR springs which are easy to obtain (not sure about the timney) plus is easier to clean. The likes of Timney and Wilson use an aluminium body which can trap a bit more dirt, on the flip side it makes them marginally easier to install. The timney may be cheaper than the SSAE.

How much of a difference is there WRT speed? Big difference? I'm no 3 gun champ, will this speed be very noticeable?

I would go Giessele SSA-E 3.5LB flat trigger. This is if you have bigger hands.

I would also look at the Hiperfire 24E from DSG, 3 spring sets to customize the feel to your taste @ R3500.
I have the Timney skeleton 3lb and a Wilson TTU, I think the TTU is better for all round use with the Timney better for accuracy potential.

I do not have much experience with superlight triggers and I tend to avoid them on my own guns. I got an ALG Defence ACT trigger from Hailstorm for my AR. The price was good and the difference from the original trigger is HUGE. For the money I do not know of anything else that comes close.

Thanks for the inputs so far, it seems the Timney might be a bit better suited to what I intend on using the rifle for, now initially.

How does one clean a Timney? My std trigger gets very dirty...

If it was for a warfighters gun it probably is. For gaming priorities are different.
