BSA and Diana are on par followed by Gamo.

I like mine to have a wood stock and shoot accurately so I do not go for stuff like Gamo. Their selling point is power which doesn't mix with accuracy- not in the airgun world. If you want something decent don't buy an airgun on FPS (foot per second). Gamo can be tuned to a very good gun but I prefer them sorted out the box and I do not buy second hand unless it is a R5000 plus airgun.
If you want something that can hit another pellet at 5-10m look at about 700-900 FPS.

BSA have two good ones I can think of, the starter Meteor and the high power Supersport.

From Diana I do not know any good names but they are an old company that made good airguns when I still looked at the brand.

Good guns to look at are

    Walther LGV

    Weihrauch

Good guns can be had at low prices but I would prefer to save for something proper. Airguns can last a lifetime and you should be looking for something that can be handed down, even if not to your own kid.
A good place to start is Airrifle.co.za ,they have much more info and also a very active classifieds section.

Brilliant Springer. The forum member, not the air rifle.

Lol thanks meteor. Ya still looking, had a gamo shadow 1000 for years now. Need something newer. Yes I've read about the fps vs accuracy, looking to what models more experienced guys prefer then I will narrow down my options

Please give MZE a call, he will give the best first hand experience about your options and what can be done to the Gamo.

If you want to look at the compressed guns like the CZ200 in the +- R6000 range try to get a few shots with one because you might be a springer man like me. The compressed guns feel soul-less to me because they do not have recoil.

My favorites are the Weihrauchs. A big thing atm though is the Walther LGVs.

BSA is now owned by Gamo, and hence I have no confidence in their products any more.

Diana is a brilliant brand, but their rifles are over-powered and mechanically 'soft'. They are also overpriced for what you get, in comparison to a few other brands.

There are 3 brands that I would not deviate from, if you want to include the words 'quality and accuracy' in your requirement.
They are Air Arms, Weihrauch and most recently, Walther - in particular the AA TX series, Prosport. The 97K from Wiehrauch, and the LGV and LGU from Walther.

Believe me. Or don't... at your peril.
