    Default Help needed please!!!

    Hi guys

I am pretty desperate at the moment. I bought a second hand Ruger SBH 44 mag to hunt with. I put a New Bushnell elite 2-6x32 on it. I bought some Magtech ammo and tried it but cant get any groupings. Then i bought Winchester white box and also couldnt get any grouping. The grouping was like 8" at 25m. I had one of the chambers in the cylinder that the brass kept getting stuck with the Winchester. I think its bulged but i cant see anything with the eye. I have now just left the chamber empty and i am not using it.
I then thought maybe it is the scope so i put on an Aimpoint Hunter. I tried some magtech, PMP and Winchester and still cant hit the broadside of a barn at 25m. I dont know if its the gun or me not holding it properly or what is going on. I should have gotten some kind of grouping out of the ammo i tried. I dont know what to do next cause it is costing me loads of money with no results. If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate putting in the right direction.

    Regards
    Eddie

Eddie, there are many variables which you have to eliminate one by one.

    Some ideas:
    - Are you used to shooting (large calibre) revolvers?
    - How long is the barrel?
    - What does the rollie do with open sights over 5m, 10m and 20m?
    - Have you properly cleaned the cylinders? There could be residue from previous shots which causes the cases to get stuck.
    - How is the play of the cylinder, both cocked and uncocked?
    - Is the crown damaged?

Hi Eddie! Check the centre pin for wear or play
Number the cylinders and shoot a grouping out of each cylinder.
Check the scope mounting for play/looseness

If one of the cylinders is damaged it will be causing every cylinder not to line up properly with the forcing cone. If the bullets are skidding off one side or another of the forcing cone they will not be going down the tube properly... this may account for the resultant inaccuracy.

Why do you suspect one of the cylinders is damaged?

    Thanx Guys!
I have got back to iron sight for now. The picatinny rail was a little loose when i took the scope off to put the iron sights back. I am going to try what you recommended Adrian and see what it does. I think i must also still learn to shoot the gun first.

I thought it was bulged cause it kept getting stuck in just that one cylinder. It was what i had read somewhere and thought i had the same problem cause the symptoms where kind of there.

Oom Adrian maybe i must bring the gun to you and you can have a look at it and tell me what you think and maybe shoot it as well. Its probably the guy driving the gun which is the problem! Hahaha
