Security estates only create the illusion of safety.

Simply leaving your personal security up to security guards you are creating a weak spot for criminals to exploit. Not much different a strategy, than hope.

From my Broker and close friend. 55% increase in burglaries (when people are home, sleeping),
45% armed robbery, and 44% hijacking..

    expect increases.

That is a huge, unbelievably so, increase. Over what period, and from what data source if I may ask? I find those numbers very curious.

RIP to the man's family. This is a sad reality that we all live with in this country at the moment...

C'mon SAPS. You need to ensure that the perps at least fear that attacks like this will be thoroughly investigated and the criminals prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

This was just on the news on TV. They have no idea how they got in this secure complex, nor how they got out. No damaged fencing, nothing.
So how could they get in this complex without climbing over the electric fences?

Unless they already live in the complex. As tenants or owners.

Manservant ja, estates make people complacent.

That and the fact that security often are overlooked when looking for culprits. I mean, they have awesome intel...

Me and mrs. Jacko are paraat in extremis though. Condition yellow en so aan. ;-)

The other day people on our Whatsapp cpf group were saying that you will always be safe in a golf estate and you never have to worry about your safety. I just chuckled at their ignorance and wondered in what fantasy country they were living in.

I live in a fairly upmarket golf estate in Cape Town and opportunistic affirmative shoppers have gained access at night to two immediate neighbours' houses at night while they were sleeping.

Open windows, lack of paraatheid in both instances.
