I don't think it was that high, but I'll have to check. Off to the War Museum this week.

Yes, the .303" ammo was made by the S.A.Mint, either in Pretoria or Kimberley.

Went googling this morning while drinking my cup of coffee.

More sources put it at 40% of .303 ammunition manufactured in South Africa.

Majority of the manufacturing seemed to have been done at Magazine Hill at the start in 1938 using the Royal Mint (which would become the South African mint 3 years later) facility there with more and more factories being built on Magazine Hill to keep up with the war demand also doing bomb and artillery round filling and the production of larger caliber (aka "cannon rounds"). With it all coming to end in a tragic explosion in March 1945 turning the Magazine Hill complex into a 80 foot crater injuring hundreds and killing over 30 workers. Sabotage by the Ossewa Brandwag was the suspected as the cause of the explosion.

Most of the info from the following write up:

Most of the sources state that these factories fell under the Mint's Munitions Division, making me think that at the time PMP was just the company through which the munitions were sold to reimburse the Union of South Africa as the Mint was still owned by HM treasury until 1941 when control was given to Union and it became the South African Mint.
