Default Practice weight vs carry weight

I want to start shooting with heavier ammo in my 9mm. The reasons are twofold. I've been told heavier ammo will rise the POI as the bullet stays in the barrel a bit longer. As my pistol groups low, it can only help. Secondly I want heavier for the reason that they give less felt recoil.
But I don't want to shoot 115 at the range and carry 147. I cannot find anybody selling the new Winchester range of train and defend ammo.

What are you guys that carry 147gr 9mm ammo shooting at the range with? I supose this question is more aimed at guys that do not reload their own ammo and shoot exclusively with factory ammo.

What 147gr ''range'' ammo are available most of the time?

Worrying about POI on a SD handgun is pointless in my opinion

So many other variables and changes that will affect it before you worry about bullet weight

I carry 147gr HST and shoot 124gr practice loads

Test it and see. In your gun with your ammo.

It is very very important but there are many variables that will influence your shot placement. Expect to be 30% to 50% less "good" than you are on the range.

as a test, by merely increasing the powder by 0.2gr in my 147's, my old man's BHP changed POI by about 15-20cm at 10meters. went from normal POA to high 12 oclock hold.
    my P30 remained the same.

personally, my range rounds are the same weight and power factor as my SD rounds. no surprises for me.

The POI rises as the bullet stays in the barrel a bit longer? Can someone please explain this to me? Please assume I know the basics and don't speculate about the barrel tilting upwards, the bullet as left the barrel long before it unlocks.

Or should it be in the "BS you've heard at the range" thread?

The recoil starts when the bullet is still in the barrel, a slower bullet means the gun has lifted more by the time the bullet leaves the muzzle.
