Information Required for Masters Degree - Crime Prevention

We have a girl in our office who is doing her masters on crime prevention through the different factors within the built environment.

She is currently busy with a study towards a masters’ degree at the University of Pretoria in Town and Regional Planning, exploring the impact of crime prevention measures in response to crime and the fear of crime on the sense of place in Kilner Park/Queenswood (Pretoria). As such it would be much appreciated if you guys can maybe provide any crime data and / or any other information regarding the security and / or crime incidences in this area.

She requested some data from a GIS company who wanted to charge her in the excess of R 80 000.00.

Kilnerpark - home to VLT, Rescomp and several schools as well as several small shopping centres. I think she could try public notices in these centres.

Hey 264WM, she should try and ask the varsity to help her as most companies tend to help with post graduate studies. For my particular study the JSE gave us all the needed raw data for free, as long as they can get a peak at our end results before we publisize it.

But she will need a connected lecturer. But strongs!

She has n UP letter, but the company with the data still wanted $$ for it. She has spoken to the CPF and the police. So I said I will ask the question here to see what more info comes out of it.
