Re: Table Mountain National Park and EDC firearms
This question will probably only be answered in court with a test case!
San parks will continue with their dictatorial approach until firearm owners challenge them in court!

Re: Table Mountain National Park and EDC firearms
The issue may come in that the Protected Areas Act prohibits the carrying of "undeclared" firearms in these areas.
This law was really established to have something to nail poachers with that were caught BEFORE they had shot something. Ie charged with carrying a firearm in a protected area. The sent for this can be pretty steep, again as a deterrent to poaching.
Having said this. I have no idea if SANParks would be interested in persuing a charge against you if you did land up using your firearm. They might, as they seem to have this stupid stance to "avoid" hotspots rather than let people defend themselves.
You can bemoan it all you want and you can bleat about them having the responsibility to provide a safe space and about you having the right to defend yourself. Fact is this is the situation that you are facing. And there is a law present that prohibites one from carrying in these areas.
Maybe contact your local SANParks office and ask them how you could declare the fact that wish to hike with a firearm. Who knows you maybe pleasantly surprised

Re: Table Mountain National Park and EDC firearms
Situation is now totally out of control in TMNP. Multiple stabbings this past weekend. It is either carry or don't use the park!

Silvermine South directly above Muizenberg, St. James, Kalk Bay. Also an incident at Peers cave. Details are sketchy SANPARKS don't believe in informing the public it seems!

Re: Table Mountain National Park and EDC firearms
There is an American expression beter to be jusged by 12 than carried by 6. IF i was inclined to visit the parks i would go armed as clearly it has been proven to be dangerous. However, it will not hurt u to find out what their position is before u enter the park. This may assist your decision in going there or not.

Re: Table Mountain National Park and EDC firearms
I'm getting interesting comments on EWN, for once 2 people positive about firearms (with some issues on personal choices of carrying) But it seems one commentator is even carrying and without resistance from staff.

I have hiked up table mountain WITH my CZ75 in the past.
Carry. Always.
Be prepared and know your surroundings.
