Replacement EDC
So I managed to lose my Bench Made Barrage after taking my pooches for a walk
So now I'm looking at a somewhat cheaper replacement blade in the 1-1.2k range
So far the list includes:
Spyderco Tenacious
CRKT Hootenany (http://www.crkt.com/hootenanny-folding-knife-K300KXP)
CRKT Outrage (http://www.crkt.com/K320GXP-outrage-...g-pocket-knife) If available
Any others worth looking at? Sadly a Spyderco Civilian is out of budget at the moment

Re: Replacement EDC
I feel for you bud. You must be gutted.
Although the CRKT knives are undoubtedly good value, I think you'll miss the quality of that Benchmade.
For a bit more money, you might consider the BM Grptillian at about R1500 if you can find stock. Awesome all round EDC blade.
Also, you can get a Spyderco Matriarch for half the price of a Civilian (all the pro's of it's more expensive cousin but lighter weight).

Re: Replacement EDC
I would second an Endura but I also like the Spyderco Tenacious. Lots of bang for your buck and a well made folder. You'll also feel less bad if you loose it. Blade steel is not the best but more than adequate for EDC if sharpened correctly.

Re: Replacement EDC
I was never a fan of Spyderco knives. I did not like the look. For the last 2 years I carried a Spyderco paramilitary and it was the best knife I have ever carried. Recently I went to Rooikraal shooting range and when I got home the knife was missing in action. (I feel your pain loosing your benchmade.) I replaced it with a Spyderco Endura FRN with a VG10 blade. The knife has yet to prove itself but it has a good blade. The most noticeable difference is the weight of the knife. It weighs only 103gr compared to the 160gr of the paramilitary. You hardly notice that you are carrying it. I have damaged a few pants pockets carrying the paramilitary. The price in the Kalahari arms link above is good.
