I think I am finally done with modifications and have the perfect solution.
After trying many different combinations, found this works for me.
The latest edition was the silencer.
    Added:
    Vortex AR red dot sight
    Offset iron sights
    Front of magazine grip
On the other side, forward grip
    Metal charging handle
Had tons off fun along the way testing various combinations...
    Very nice!!!

Got around to installing the Volquartsen extractor (finally).

For those of us with two left thumbs, this video might be extremely helpful.

Will take it out for a spin at the next steel challenge and provide a report back; if there's anything worth adding.

Remember when Sunday's were about Steel Challenge? Ah - those care free days!

Figured I'd do a quick update on the M&P15-22*:-

    Round count: 3000
Parts changed/upgraded/replaced: Upgrade charging handle, upgraded extractor, suppressor
Parts breakages: Charging handle (aftermarket replacement)
Stoppages due to parts failure/breakage: None
Stoppages due to ammo: Plenty -> dirty 22 ammo
    Clean-ups: 3 (One was because I was bolt-shamed ... )
    Smiles: Heaps!

    * For anyone who still uses the forum to talk guns.

    This, Sad but true.
With my 15-22 I just wipe the bolt clean and lube the slides with Slip2000. You must see my face after shooting some Cuclones and Thunderbolts, the sad thing of shooting out of the left shoulder. Mine works 99% reliable with any ammo. But it hurts financialy to consume a brick per session but its worth every R.

Mine is still gathering dust at the dealer sadly. I wasted a lot of time because my competency didn’t include self loading rifle and now been waiting 5 months for CFR.

In the meantime I go to a range where I rent a 15-22. Great fun!

How on earth did your charging handle break?

Chalking that up to bad luck. The housing for the springs that allow the "arms" of the handle to move managed to break.

I didn't realise until a while after. By then I had no idea where to look for the missing pieces. It still continued to function albeit without the arms flexing on charging.

Interestingly, the vast majority of my 15-22's FTE's occurred when shooting Cyclones and Thunderbolts. That stuff is dirty!

I figured out that a liberal application of Ballistol saved me from having to clean the gun.

Wow, that's crazy. I've never heard of that before.
