Default What to do with old Lee Enfield .303

    Hi Guys
My dad has an old Lee Enfield .303 made in 1917 in original condition. It was my great-great grandfathers and has sentimental value to me... But I do not wish to ever shoot it or register it as a hunting rifle on my name. Is there a way I can disable the rifle and still keep it in my house?
    What do you guys suggest?
    Regards
    Chris

I'm sure you can contact your gunsmith who will be able to help and they should know the procedure!

Take it to a gunsmith and ask them to do the necessary. They weld, drill and block it up. Then you get a piece of paper to take to the police and it gets taken off the register.

I think many gunsiters would rather swop you for an existing decommissioned piece.

Just don't hand it in for destruction.

Just to set the record straight Ds J - permission has to be applied for and granted by CFR before the de-ac can take place by a gunsmith.

Its only a piece of of metal once its fucked up. Licence it every few required years and be proud to have it.Occasional sports shooter - JUST DO IT, you can not speak sentimental value and destroying it. Take a photo and sell it other wise
