Prawns recipe wanted
We have been invited to a get-together where each couple is to prepare a prawn themed mains dish.
I need a fairly idiot-proof recipe, camping style (ie easy to prepare without serious machinery needed). Something with chilli might work, unfortunately prawn curry has already been dibsed by another couple.
Many thanks :-)

Re: Prawns recipe wanted
You don't want to overwork a prawn. Grill and baste with lemon, garlic and butter.

Re: Prawns recipe wanted
Best prawns are lightly flavoured - they have a unique taste of their own and people tend to smother them with all sorts of stuff. Lighly fried with a little lemon and garlic. Serve with deep fried potato wedges and chunks of Feta.

Yup, this is it.
De-vein (when frozen with small scissors is easiest)
Do not remove shells prior to cooking.
Either Grill/ Braai or Fry.
Salt, Pepper, Garlic, Lemon and Butter. Nothing else or you are just wasting good prawn meat.
Don't use oil / cream or any other to 'improve' the flavour. You will just spoil it.
Add Chilli, garlic butter and other add-ons as a side to the dish.Israeli Carry is for dead people

Re: Prawns recipe wanted
Ok easy
If its camping style get a toeknyprooster.
Take the dermpies out but keep in the shell.
Stack them nice and tight in the toeknyp.
Melt some butter...proper butter not margarine, heped spoon of chopped garlic and about 1 lemon worth of juice.
Put on the fire and turn regularly. Every turn you let rip with your butter mix. Just before dishing up some fresh lemon juice.
The shells prevent burning but to be too hasty. They will turn pink when cooked.
Some tartare and some peri peri sauce on the side works wonders

If you have a mobile smoker there is nothing better. Prepare them as stated above with lemon and garlic, then smoke them for 7 minutes over regular oak mixed with a small (half a teaspoon) of rasped rooibos.

Do you have a big plate on which to cook them on the fire? I will get you a beer recipe that will have you lick your fingers clean - includes garlic and chilli
