You may be caught by surprise and ordered out your car at gunpoint. Ir your gun is under your leg, your hand is forced to either try 'outdraw' the guy with the gun to your head, or be seperated from your gun. Rather keep your gun well concealed on you and choose or create the right moment that favours you.

I would suggest prioritizing solid skills development before messing around with cool guy stuff.

    +1.

If you cannot hit standing flat footed on a square range at 7m on demand, then you have no business doing low drag stuff.

MDW Fighting in and around vehicles (handgun): http://youtu.be/qbkqxXQY-3U

Shameless plug for a respected Gunsiter that's partnered with an excellent trainer.

I was surprised how "easy" drawing from 3:30 IWB becomes after being shown some proper technique.

    BigT and SSP

At what point then would you say someone should go for training to defend himself/herself from inside a vehicle?

Or how would you then know if your skills are developed enough?

I don't play any of those two on teh interwebz but the first step is to at least do a basic intro into handgun skills course. Something that will teach you to safely carry, draw, shoot and reholster your gun, whilst also teaching you some basic marksman skills.

Generally trainers won't let guys do more complex courses unless they know the guys are safe and proficient with the basics. The best way of course to "prove" this to a trainer is if he knows you from previous courses.

I understand this 100% and agree that you need to build on your basics before doing more complex stuff. I also agree that it will be easier to do courses with the same trainer, that way, like you said, he gets to know you and your skill level.

What if your trainer doesn't do vehicle fighting courses and you have to go to someone who has never met you and doesn't know your skill level? Can your trainer contact him and confirm that you are skilled enough to go on the course or can your trainer just tell you "Well done grasshopper you are now ready" ?

Sorry LRK I will ask any more questions I have regarding this via pm from here on.

I personally think many guys want to do cool guy at the expense of skill development. Youre question thouh is a bit of a how long is a piece of string one.

How solid are your core skills?
