Re: Bullet performance data base
Went hunting last week and took a big Bluewildebeest Bull, the horns and skull of which I'm currently trying to prepare for a mount. Anyway I used 180gr PMP ProAmm's, in my Sako .308 Win, shot at 2292 fps. The bull was walking at a distance of about 60 meters. I unfortunately only have a balance beam scale and can therefore not workout the weight retention.
Good shot placement ;)
IMO very nice shape
And good increase in Diameter

Re: Bullet performance data base
1 ) 6.5x55 Swede
2 ) Nosler Ballistic Tip Hunting 140gr, 97.9gr left, that's about 69.9% weight retained
3 ) 2400fps
4 ) +/-200m
5 ) Huge Blesbuck ram - Animal was quartering away VERY MUCH. Shot entered about midway between start of the ribs and the back leg. Bullet was recovered just under the skin on opposite side on the shoulder. It busted a rib bone before stopping.

Re: Bullet performance data base
Hornady V-max 32 grain .204 Ruger MV 3800ft/sec
Shot a springbok in the head at 100m. It dropped like a stone.
No exit wound. This was the biggest of multiple bullet fragments that were recovered.
Weight retention was virtually zero, but for this application, it doesn't matter. For headshots on smaller animals the bullet does exactly what it was designed to do.

Re: Bullet performance data base
i would really like to try those sciroccos 165gr in my 308.. they are just so damn expensive @ R 1300 per 100.. i've taken the fact that i cant get interbond as a sign that i should go back to cup and core.. interlocks.

Re: Bullet performance data base
that gs custom looks fantastic. unfortunately gerry is focused on international market now. the availability becomes a pain in the ass. or actually the waiting period.
