    For a shorter gun I would go with a 147gr load , eg a Shield etc

    To be honest I would and have carried all of these and would gladly.

    So a question: would the heavier 147 Gr round at standard pressure be gentler on my gun than the lighter 127 Gr at +P pressure?

    Yes, most definitely. Also easier to shoot ITO of follow up shots.
