    Default Buying a new .22

    hi

I am looking to buy a .22 this year.
    I have to sons 6 and 8.

want to use it for practise myself, training them and hunting dassies etc on the farm holidays.

which rifle do I look at?
obviously not the top of the range sniper gun, but also believe a rifle should last forever.

    advise please?

Second hand brno's are getting expensive, but you can still pick ones for R4000.

Second hand is really the way to go. Cause other than brno models, there are mausers, voere, sako, winchester remington and many more second hand gems out there.
All for round about R4000 or even R2000.

The thing is there cant be much wrong with a second hand .22. Just look at the muzzle and also make sure there are no bulges inside the barrel. Good to go.

You absolutely HAVE to look at the newish BRNO/CZ 452 - no sights, short bull barrel and broad fore-end. Camdix @ <R7k
I briefly considered swapping my No2 for one but then loyalty got the better of me.

I have to agree with JouDoring here, that a second hand .22 in good condition is the way to go. If you can get a CZ in good condition that suites your budget then doing even think twice. The CZ will give you and your sons years of good service as long as you look after it. I hope you find a suitable .22 soon.
