The shocking state of "journalism" in this country can constantly be reflected in the Daily Maverick.

It is one thing to use a source from the first google hit as your back up to an argument, but its another thing entirely to link to an article saying, well, the EXACT OPPOSITE of the point you are making, ain't it?

She writes "Every year, guns are used 80 times more often to take a life than to protect one".
The page she links to says, and I quote, "Every year, guns are used over 80x more often to protect a life than to take one!*

Thing is this author is a freaking producer/editor for the maverick, not some random idiot.

Journalism apparently means you google the first thing you find, and paste it as fact - and she can't even do that.

It is very bad here in The U.S.A. but we understand that a "free Press" is not necessarily an "Objective" press. You can only hope that good sense and Critical thinking will prevail.
