I'm about to start drinking for St Paddy's so I'll keep it brief. Firstly, seeking to understand is far from seeking to absolve. Identifying certain determinants does not mean that the person could not have chosen otherwise.

Secondly, there is a difference between describing how someone is now (ontology), and how they came to be that way (history). Encountering someone who appears to like crime now does not mean that that person exited the womb as a ready-made venomous little ****er eager to inject his poison into others. I'm interested in how people come to be that way, and what we can do to alter those processes. Incidentally, someone who purports to enjoy crime might well be using self-delusion in order to make what they do acceptable to themselves. 'Damn its good to be a kingpin' is a lot more self-palatable than 'Damn it feels good to be a monster'. Not that there arent those who enjoy the effect that being seen as a monster inspires in others.
Again, trying to understand, not excuse.

    Cheers!

What about psychopaths? How many of these people are just wired wrong?
