    Default Carcass Weights?

    Hi all,

I am starting to plan a hunt or two for 2016. Looking at the 2015 hunting prices its better to shoot a larger animal,... more bang for buck!

In your experience, what is tha average dressed carcas weight (skinned, head and hooves off, intestines out) for the following animals:

    1. Eland Cow/ Bull
    2. BWB Cow/ Bull
    3. Kudu Cow/ Bull

    Comments appreciated.

I shot a Eland Cow in August, not the biggest there is but quartered came in at a total of 182 kg.

first one I tried and thought the same...the idea behind the calculator is a really good one though for new meat hunters and understanding final meat price before being worked.

Credit for the research, content and formulae goes to Hendrik Le Roux.
The observations and figures are based on data from his personal hunting experiences and from data collected from friends and family. If you feel you wish to contribute to the data and better the accuracy of the calculations, please feel free to contact him to make the arrangements.
I have not spoken to him a a looong time. But pass on your data so that it can be refined.

The live weight doesn't seem that far off. A live cow can weigh up to 200kg.

All weights stated is animals that I would be aiming for.
    1 eland cow 200kg bull 250>
    2 bwb cow 100kg bull 120>
    3 kudu cow 80kg bull 120>.
Obviously bulls can be much bigger, above is about what I will be satisfied with.

I see that this is still offline. If I may get in touch with the original host of the calculator I would appreciate it. I would like to explore what the cost to host it would be etc. And look at possibly looking at a form to allow submissions of data for approval before it is added to the database. Would anybody be interested in such a thing?
