Default Morakniv - my favorite knife

I owe 3 Mora's. They are as cheap as dirt, but I personally think its the most wonderful knife. They are as sharp as a razor, truly. The steel is reall good, you can sharpen it to razor quality quite easily. It keeps its edge and I have abused it many a time!

When I say its dirt cheap, I mean it, about R200-R300 for a Mora classic, or Mora 2. Its a classic fixed blade knife. I bought all mine here: http://www.proventure.co.za/products/mora-classic-no-2

Or you could buy the blade and make your own handle. I have done that to all mine. The original handle is a bit light, but still, it works well

Hmm ... if it doesn't have saw blades, a compass and a toothpick, it's not worth having!

Bumping this thread. Really loving my Mora.

Have just placed an order for another, today. The Mora Robust. Cheap as chips and I wanted a carbon steel knife.

I'm currently next to the Vaal river, and the friends I'm with suggested we make stokbrood tonight. So out came the Mora Bushcraft from my go-bag, and I set off to the river to go cut sturdy green reeds for the job.

I had it previously sharpened to hair whittling, which it isn't anymore. It won't shave either, but will still cut into my thumbnail without sliding off, which is probably the best I could have asked for seeing how many reeds I chopped down and cleaned with it.

Really a hard-use knife that you don't have to baby or worry about. It it breaks (which you'll be hard pressed to do), then so be it. Another is going to be around R300.

You simply can't beat a mora, it's probably the best bang for buck bushcraft/utility fixed blade.

The robust looks nice, I like the finger guard.

    couldn't agree more.

I have a few of the "companion" models scattered around various vehicles, hunting back packs, fly fishing bags etc. I started buying them about 4 years ago - they cost ca R120 then, and about R140 now - so hardly bank-breakers.

I love them. Just remember the cheaper models are not full tang. So be careful.

    Stay Bladed.
