License card text...
Hi all.
Just a quick community ping... I got my first section 16 licence card yesterday and noticed a few issues.
The licence card shows a 5 year validity period (as far as I know, section 16 licences are valid for ten years)
The text (where i would expect "section 16 Dedicated sports") shows "shooting range"
The section for barrel serial number is blank, despite the gun not having matching serials (aftermarket barrel)
Is this the norm?
Thanks in anticipation.

Re: License card text...
Sadly I think that you have a few issues...
s.16 licences are for 10 years (card should show the issue and expiry dates).
Card should just show the "section 16" wording. Have never seen "shooting range" wording on a licence card before...
My understanding is that if there are different serial numbers, the correct serial numbers for each of the barrel, receiver, frame etc should be listed there (even if they are not all the same). This way, if ever stopped and asked to show your licence to a member of the SAPS, they will be able to determine that you have a legally-owned and licenced FA.
Good luck with trying to get this sorted out! How annoying...

Re: License card text...
Fill in a correction of information form.
Hand in to your DFO.
Wait.
Wait some more.
Keep waiting.
Possibly repeat from step 1.

Re: License card text...
Yes you are going to pull your hair out of frustration....
My .22 LR license card says valid for 2 years and shows LEGACY as the section.
I have filled in probably close to 20 different forms to get this corrected, every single time they just send me a new card with the same info on.
I have six cards already with the same incorrect info.
Seems like eventually the only solution is going to be to book it into dealer stock and re-apply

Apparently my Mossberg barrel, frame and receiver are made by Ruby!

Re: License card text...
First thing to do is see if your dealer is happy accepting it and will give you your gun....
Collect gun....then go sort it out with DFO

Re: License card text...
Thanks for the replies.
Sigh, I suspected it would be a procedural issue. My DFO is very helpful, just not particularly clued up. Hopefully she will push for some resolution.
