    Default Sus-Tac Suppressor Thoughts

Does any one have any thoughts on these Suppressors? A local gun shop is running a special on them and got me thinking for my .308...

Well I am only going to say that I have a Ase Utra SL5 on my 308. Its only 95mm in length.
There is no change in impact point on target with it on or off.
On the range I am amazed at the much longer suppressors/silencers.
That are still louder then the SL5.
Suppressors effectiveness is in the internal baffle design. And not just alot of baffles stuck inside.

Here's what the inside of an ASE looks like: I don't think we have the capability to mass produce something this complex.

I don't see why not. The initial RD could be a problem but we have plenty of engineering capability in SA.

Most of the suppressors I have seen in SA are a version of welded washers, mostly because they are more or less effective, cheap and overall easy to whip up in a small machine shop with a low skill requirement.

Money for jam in other words.

And people will keep buying them as they are good enough and not many people can get their hands on a high tech suppressor to compare it.

Susman's machines can easily turn that out, and more. This is a sideline for him, he has a LOT of VERY advanced CNC machines.
I am not sure what the inside looks like, but the outside is some of best finished suppressors I have seen, and I have no doubt the inside will be excellent.
We are stocking them shortly, and initial tests were excellent.

I have Sus-Tac's big boy on my Tikka 300WSM, think it's called the BW4045BR. The one with the Muzzle Break.

Don't fall into the "trap" to buy the muzzle break. The Muzzle break is lying in my reloading room somewhere......
When hunting with the break installed, it makes the gun long, cumbersome and difficult to maneuver.
When stationary/bench shooting it's not so much of a problem.
The break works like a charm, but lessens the silencing part.
To me personally, a waist of money.

    Now for the good part
My 300 is much much quieter than all my mate's 300's. (we compared them side by side)
The recoil is manageable, don't expect the Silencer to wipe out the recoil totally.

The service I received from Mike at Sus-Tac will make me go back there, they produce some of the best Silencer's locally made.
As soon as I have bucks, I'll dump the silencer on my AR and get a Sus-Tac one for it.

    Hi,

Hope the moderators don't mind me trying to revive this thread. I've been searching the interweb for a silencer for my 10" AR-15.

Came across the Sus-Tac and would like to know if there are any new thoughts out there, particularly for an AR platform?

I would prefer to support a locally produced product , if worth it !!!
    Thanks.
