Opinions wanted
Hi
We as a family have been wanting a dog as a pet / companion for some time now.
Its a bit like getting a child, you never seem ready.
Anyway, today we have been offered a Cross (Mom)Belgian Malinois x Pitbull (Dad) puppy.
Both parents pedigree and from working stock
Any thoughts on what kind of family member such an interesting x would make?
Thanks

Re: Opinions wanted
I generally don't like crosses because its difficult to determine in advance what they will be like.
Maligators are, in general terms, high drive dogs. They are not for everyone. (I have one and I generally tell people not to get one.)
Neither are Pits.
With a Pits bite strength and the Maligators drive you are going to have your hands full. You are going to have to put in the hours training for control.Cattle die, kindred die, every man is mortal:

Re: Opinions wanted
You can never depend on the temperament of a cross breed dog, cross breed pitbulls have got the breed a very bad name.
what does your family consist of?
How many kids and what ages?
Will you have time to train and exercise a dog like this everyday? Working dogs need to work!
Will there be someone at home with the dog everyday?, or what other company will the dog have?
Answer these questions for yourself and you will have your answer.

What they said. It's the spin of a coin as to the temperament that you get. Rather go for a purebred dog with more predictable character. Labs and Goldens are great around kids, and many other breeds also have great qualities.

@Yeti
What area are you in?
Are you interested in a Labrador... Black
About 2 1/2 years old... Loves kids.. Not house trained unfortunately.
Need a love and attention.. Which he is not getting with my work schedules.
Pm me if you can give him a good home.

Both those breeds need strong owners, mixed you never know what the dog will turn out like.
Go the Lab/Retriever route if the kids are old enough to play with the dog, or if you see lots of dog walking in your future. Reason I say that, is they get destructive when bored, brilliant family dogs though.

Four things will destroy your home:
1. Fire
2. Flood
3. Hurricane
4. Maligator
When I am asked to describe Malinois, I generally do it in two ways. They are like JRT brains in GSD bodies, with all that that entails. They are like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park.Cattle die, kindred die, every man is mortal:

Re: Opinions wanted
Please steer clear from this mix. APBT crossed with anything is like buying a lucky packet. Most of the bad press on Pits, are in fact caused by Pit x's. The thought of an APBT and Malinois cross sends shivers down my spine.
Out of interest, was this a planned breeding or accident?Last edited by RAGE; 25-11-2015 at 14:59. Reason: Added on
