Default Farm Theft, so you catch the guys, what now?

The situation: Farming Macadaimia nuts near the transkei , with a constant problem of theft of nuts by young teenagers especially during holiday season. ( some might say ' whats a few nuts' but check the nut price and when you rather small every bag counts )

So the big question is what do we do when we catch these guys?
In the past when we have apprehended them, we have informed the local SAPS and even though they are not bad at responding, and we get a case number etc, they dont take them in , instead try frighten them into not doing it again , but the attitude is a brazen FU , and knowing that nothing happens the theft hasn't stopped instead its increased.

So i thought some on the forum might have some advice or ideas. I dont mind the 'colourful' ideas for a laugh, trust me i have a few of my own, but really looking for some practical, legal, 'dont end up in jail' , ways to handle the situation of when the perpetrators have been caught.
I know the SAPS is the recommended route but For instance: how legal would it be for me to load them up and drop them 30km up the road in the nearest town, at least makes their day bit longer and more painful ( some bucks out their pocket )

I understand the first prize is to stop them getting to the nuts in the first place, but its a large area, and bar a massive fence and or guards ( which have their own problems ), its easier said than done.

Vigilantism is kinda frowned upon here. As for dropping them 30kms away, how much does that cost you in petrol for the round trip, and can you say kidnapping?

You can try and find work you can give them over the holidays, two days a week, doesn't have to be full time.
Go and find the chief/tribal leader of the area, don't go empty handed, explain the problem and you can come to an agreement on what is in it for him to keep them away.

Prison time for assault. It endangers a whole new and more valuable type of nuts.

An Australian cop suggested a vegetable colourant to be sprayed on a peeping Tom so that he can be identified. Purple should look good on the youngsters so that everybody can see where they have been.
